Project Description
Tucked into the hills of the Congewai Valley, this striking two-storey home was built on a site rated one of the toughest bushfire zones in NSW — a full Flame Zone (BAL-FZ) classification.
Jorge took the project on as an owner-builder, and brought in Newcastle Steel Frames & Trusses to detail, supply and install the frame. In a Flame Zone, steel isn't just a preference — it's one of the few framing solutions that can meet the non-combustibility requirements without compromising the design.
NSFT supplied and installed the wall frames, trusses and floor system for the home, working through the site's elevated, forested terrain to deliver a structure built to stand up to its surroundings — long after the last frame went in.
Completed a few years ago, the home is now on the market — a solid example of how steel framing lets owner-builders take on the hardest sites without cutting corners on compliance or design.
